Since Dad worked for the NP, he concentrated his photography
there. Still there are a fair number of GN images in the collection,
mostly taken while waiting for NP trains.
GN 3217 at Kyro Washington in 1946, the big 2-8-2
has just taken water on a cold, clear day.
GN Mallet 4021 at Seattle WA circa 1935. The
eastbound GN class R-2 articulated is about to pass
under the Dravus St. bridge at
Interbay, with NP trackage and scalehouse (used briefly
as a train order station).William Covey photo, Info

Since most of the images in the GN collection have only been scanned, not cleaned up and balanced, it's going to
take a while before more get posted! I have to work on my fine art Gallery for a while.

GN Train 460 at Chehalis Washington in 1949. Photo
by Frank (FB) Thompson
I was standing on the Sperry high line bridge, where the
road kinked sharply to pass under, before climbing up to
Pacific Avenue in downtown Tacoma, when I took this
photo of a Great Northern freight train in front of the
crumbling hulk of the Tacoma Stevadore Terminal. In
the Fall of 1968, the GN and NP still existed, as did the
Sperry high line, the warehouses, and even the road,
which is now Schuster Parkway.
